Contrarians unite! If you thrive amidst controversy, welcome to the world of Spinosaurus. This graceful dino gets the nod for its status as the most debated of prehistoric creatures. Paleontologists wonder just how aquatic it really was—perhaps crocodilian, venturing on land to soak up the sun, lay eggs, or stretch its four supple legs? Or was it more heron-like, wading across extensive river systems, striking for fish and small prey? Was it the only dinosaur that swam? Its fossil remains from the Late Cretaceous period (around one hundred million years ago) have been found in northern Africa, not what was then an oceanic environment. So let’s call it semiaquatic for now.
Our Spirited Spinosaurus is adaptable, and believes you can’t step into the same river twice. This lithe little dino will feel right at home perched next to your aquarium, bookcase, or workspace. Now available as a figurine, and will soon evolve into a brooch and separate pendant.
